~ Music for Opera #1 ~
Our new EP is available right now on Bandcamp, through Scratch Match Records.
Created during recording sessions on the Huon River in Southern lutruwita/Tasmania for compositions for a play in January 2023 the tracks contained in this EP here we actually warm-up improvisations. Months later, after repeated listens, it seemed that these pieces had taken on a larger life, overshadowing the formal recordings that were used for the play. Released now unmixed and unmastered, raw studio moments that seemed to channel the horror of the history of the colonised land upon which we recorded the works.
Bing/Santospirito’s 2022 LP The Quoll
Epic improvisers Natalya Bing (violin) and Joshua Santospirito (guitar) are joined by Randal Muir (on Tasmania's largest pipe organ) to deliver an immersive, hypnotically beautiful and strange elegy to the end of the world as we currently know it. A two-part concert recorded live within the gorgeous acoustics of St David’s cathedral in nipaluna / Hobart.
A post-marsupial melodrama: set in a deep-future lutruwita (Tasmania), where the landscape is now only inhabited by fire, lichens and animal-headed ghosts wandering aimlessly throughout the high country.
Commissioned by MONA FOMA 2021 and captured live in front of a sold out audience at St Davids cathedral in nipaluna; this stunning and intense performance of The Quoll is now released as the debut album by Bing/Santospirito through Scratch Match Records.
